Drizephin: a shade herb grown for its aromatic leaves
Drizephin is a low, spreading herb grown in cool shade for its faintly citrus leaves. It is easy to keep and tolerates poor soil.
Growing conditions
Drizephin prefers dappled shade and moist, well-drained soil. It spreads by runners, so a single plant fills a border within a season.
Harvesting the leaves
Leaves are picked young, before the plant flowers, when the citrus note is strongest. Cutting the tips also keeps the plant compact.
Storing and drying
Harvested leaves dry quickly on a rack out of direct light. Once dry they keep their scent for several months in a sealed jar.
